My work is anchored in the term perception. Each of us sees the world through a different lens. It is fascinating how individual realities collide, drift apart, or slip past one another. What interests me most is disconnection: this moment when understanding fails and we feel alienated to one another.
Bodies are central in my work because they symbolize both separation and connection. A body makes it clear where you end and I begin, yet we move through the same fragile life together. This leads me to themes of estrangement, alienation and closeness: how someone can suddenly feel distant, how the familiar can turn strange, but we still endlessly seem to long for closeness.
I work experimentally and in the in-between of disciplines, using photography, new media, experimental music, 3D, and other digital forms. My process is always searching, guided by tests and encounters rather than fixed outcomes. Each project is a way to see how closeness and distance play out between people.
Disconnection is not only personal. It reflects one of the biggest challenges of society today. Constant connection through technology, yet a growing feeling of being apart. My work does not solve this, but it creates space to notice it, to feel it, and to ask questions about it.

Praised for its emotionally resonant nature, her work has been exhibited in places such as De Meldkamer, Bonnefanten, Liberation Festival Roermond, Musica Sacra Festival, Noorderlicht Photo Festival, Theater aan het Vrijthof and Het Nieuwe Domein. In 2023 Flora won the incentive ScriptieKunst prize and was nominated as finalist of the Henriëtte Hustinx Prize with her graduation work “INSTAR”.
Flora continues to experiment and push the boundaries of her practice. Her work invites us to reflect on the relationship between the self, the world and reality, and to celebrate the power of the human experience. Through her use of digital art forms, Flora’s work inspires us to consider the impact of technology on our perceptions and experiences and to celebrate the power of human experience in a rapidly changing technological landscape.
